After a successful first year of business, the owner of Drip Cafe decided to launch a new venture – The Brunch Box. It was important that the truck have it’s own, unique brand elements, but still clearly be linked back to the main restaurant.
I started, as most brands do, with the logo. Drip Cafe’s primary font is Poster Bodoni, used in mainly lower case. I decided to carry over the font for The Brunch Box but to use uppercase characters for some distinction. The result is that the font looks familiar to Drip Cafe’s core customer base, while still retaining some individuality.
The company is very community oriented and focused on being sustainable and positive, so we had drafted a huge list of words that were representative of the brand. After sketching a wide variety of marks to accompany the text. nothing was standing out as really encompassing everything that they are about, so I decided to try a different direction – using all of those words to create a ‘word cloud’-style collage. Knowing that we would have the 26′ mobile billboard that is the truck itself as a display surface, the resulting logo makes a great conversation piece that draws customers in for a closer look.
I designed a website with a focus on being mobile responsive. Since the truck is always on the move, their customers are generally using mobile devices to locate them and view their menu options. In just four pages, customers can find all the details they need, including an event/location map, menus, contact & catering request forms, and plenty of invitations to connect on social media.
